Regenlite (N-Lite) Acne Treatment

Achieve acne reduction and blemish free skin with Regenlite (N-Lite).

What is Regenlite (N-Lite) - Acne?

The Regenlite Pulsed Dye Laser was introduced to the UK at the beginning of 2000 as a collagen building laser designed for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and treating the general signs of skin aging. The laser is a visible yellow light laser that mimics damage in the skin that then stimulates the body’s natural wound healing response. Part of this response is the production of brand new collagen. During these treatments, especially for the reduction of acne scarring, it rapidly became apparent that the Regenlite treatment was reducing the active acne break-outs that these patients had at the time of treatment. Within a short time, Regenlite clinics had a number of patients who were controlling their acne using laser treatment in conjunction with non-laser regimes.

Since those early days, a full clinical trial and subsequent studies have been completed which demonstrate the remarkable effectiveness of the Regenlite laser on controlling the symptoms of acne. Regenlite is a medical grade laser that emits a unique laser light Smart Pulse from a hand-piece held directly above the skin. Regenlite has been engineered to emit the exact amount of light energy required to the targeted the acne bacteria whilst stimulating an immune response for maximum treatment outcomes, with little to no downtime so you can resume back to normal activities straight away.

FAQs

You’ve probably got some questions, but before you get in touch, we’ve answered the most common ones.

  • Your Consultation

Full acne assessment, hormones, diet, lifestyle, medications grade of acne and scaring, advised on ZO skin care and nutritional support – if suitable, we’ll book you in for a patch test.

  • How Does Regenlite (N-Lite) for acne work?

The mechanism by which Regenlite works if three-fold: Initially the laser light kills the acne bacteria that causes the infection, and which lead to the formation of spots and lesions. The whole face is treated, killing the bacteria over a wide area and reducing the risk of infection spreading and further break-outs. Secondly, we see stimulation of the body’s natural wound healing response and dermal collagen production, which accelerated the resolution of the spots and lesions and reduced the appearance of any scars. Lastly, the laser stimulates the amount of a special type of molecule in the skin, a cytokine called TGFβ. This cytokine is uniquely important in the process of limiting inflammation and is also intimately involved in the development of immune tolerance. Simply put, this molecule reduces the inflammation of the acne spots and then prevents the formation of new ones.

  • How long will my treatment take?

The treatment itself is very fast, taking 30 minutes for a full facial, an additional 30 minutes for body areas such as the back, or depending on your advised treatment package. As the laser specifically targets the lower surface or dermal layer of the skin and is totally safe minimal to no signs of treatment are visible on the skin surface. As a result you can have a treatment during your lunch break and return to work with no visible signs of treatment.

  • How many treatments will I need and how frequently?

The number of treatment sessions with the Regenlite that you may need will depend on your individual situation and this will be discussed with you during your consultation, including possible combination treatments that could enhance your results. A typical treatment course will initially involve 3 -6 laser treatment sessions (although there may be other appointments needed for combination treatments). If you experience a localised break-out in between treatments, you can always return to the clinic for a control treatment to that area. Breakouts can be stopped in their tracks if treatment is carried out early. The laser sessions will usually be scheduled once per month. You will then be placed on a maintenance schedule.

  • When will I see results?

Results so far have indicated three stages of treatment. On the day of treatment, you should experience a reduction in tenderness. In the days following, most people find that their existing breakouts resolve rapidly. In the weeks after, there should be an improvement to the reddened areas due to old lesions improving and a reduction of scarring. Occasionally, some people experience a flare up of lesions 2-4 weeks after treatment. This will usually resolve on its own. A clinical study by Lancet (Vol.362) concluded that 92% of patients reviewed after a single treatment had a significant improvement, and over 50% of patients had a 50% reduction in acne lesions after a single treatment.
