FAQs

You’ve probably got some questions, but before you get in touch, we’ve answered the most common one

  • What causes enlarged pores?

There are a number of factors that can contribute to the development of open pores. Firstly its comes down to genetics, this is a significant contributing factor in determining the size of your pores. Other contributing factors include sebum production, which can be determined by your skin type, overproduction of this will clog the pores and make them appear larger. As we age and our skin loses its elasticity, pores can also start to appear larger, this can be further contributed by the skin’s texture and sun damage. Environmental factors that may further contribute to the appearance of enlarged pores may be the accumulation of dirt, pollutants and toxins.

  • Will I always be prone to large pores?

If you have a genetic predisposition to enlarge pores, this is something that will never go away. Adopting a good skin care regimen with a focus on oil control and reducing your exposure to daily pollutants will all help to maintain your results for longer.

  • What treatments are effective for enlarged pores?

There are a number of treatments that can be very effective for reducing the appearance of open pores, this will depend on the size and severity.

    1. Hydrafacial – HydraFacial is an effective treatment for reducing the size of open pores. This treatment provides a combination of cleansing, deep exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and antioxidant infusion finished with light therapy to deep clean and rejuvenate the skin. The exfoliation process will help to remove the build-up of dead skin cells while the extraction process will remove clogged sebum and debris from the pores to reduce their appearance whilst rejuvenating the skin.
    2. Chemical Peels – The Blue Peel Radiance and ZO Stimulator peel are effective. This will involve an application of a peel to the ski which will gently exfoliate the upper layer of skin cells, and give a deep clean to the pores helping to remove any sebum an debris, resulting in an overall reduction in the appearance of enlarged pores
    3. ResurFace: This is an effective treatment for larger, deeper pores that are causing a cosmetic concern . The treatment will cause tiny columns of thermal damage, resulting in a deep exfoliation, an increase in cellular turnover, a collagen stimulation and textural improvements to the skin.
