You’ve probably got some questions, but before you get in touch, we’ve answered the most common ones here.
-
What causes stretch marks?
There are a number of factors that can contribute to the development of stretch marks due to the skin stretching beyond its natural capacity. Firstly like many skin concerns, genetics has a role to play and your genetic makeup. Other factors which result in the skin stretching can include rapid weight gain (or loss), pregnancy, puberty and intense bodybuilding. Other factors can be the prolonged use of Corticosteroids as this can reduce your skin’s natural elasticity, alongside medical conditions such as Cushing’s and Marfan syndrome.

Will stretch marks go on their own?
It is unlikely that stretch marks will disappear on their own, however they will continue to fade over time. Initially the stretch marks will appear as a purple or red line across the skin and the surface blood capillaries beak leading to this colour. Over time the colour and skin texture will gradually improve, they may appear less indented and the surrounding skin will be smoother, while the colour will reduce and overtime become a white, silverish colour making them look less obvious.
