LATEST NEWS – JUNE 2019
\"\"

This month\’s newsletter includes treatments for Acne in support of Acne Awareness Month, gift ideas for fathers day, upcoming events and new launches in clinic.

Are you prone to problematic skin?

Acne and breakouts can be very frustrating and not to mention a little embarrassing. But you don\’t have to put up with bad skin any longer, here at Staffordshire Skin & Laser Clinic our team of Nurses and Practitioners are very clued-up on effective treatments and managing skin conditions such as acne.
In support of Acne Awareness Month this June our treatment and product of the month are just two effective ways we treat acne and breakouts.

Treating Active Acne

Prior to any treatment we recommend a full medical consultation. Because acne is multi factorial, your practitioner will conduct an assessment based on diet, hormonal influences, prescribed medications, skin care routine and treatments received in the past. This will enable us to look at the different factors contributing to your acne and how best to treat.

In clinic we offer many effective medical grade treatments such as chemical skin peels, Dermalux light therapy, HydraFacial, prescription skin care as well dietary and hormonal support.

Treating Acne Scarring

Once the Acne is under control and the skin has cleared you may be left with some scarring from the breakouts. The type of treatment will depend on your type of scarring, as general advice ice pick scars, boxcar scars and rolling scars will require dermal stimulation with either the award winning Resurface fractional laser, EDS (electronic derma stamp) or Plasma sublimation.

Deeper scars may require sublimation and dermal filler to lift the indentations. Pigmented scarring with no indentation will require a prescription skin care approach for skin lightening. For raised hypertrophic or keloid scarring, we recommend visiting a dermatologist for a course of steroid injections.

These treatments may sound aggressive, however acne is a skin concern we see and treat daily in clinic with great results, while some treatments may be slightly uncomfortable, you will be in very safe hands.

The National Medical Weight Loss Programme uses an FDA approved medication called liraglutide, which is licensed for weight loss under the trade name of Saxenda.

Saxenda has passed numerous clinical trials for safety and is the only approved injectable prescription medicine available in the UK for weight loss in overweight patients with a BMI 30 or above.

The Saxenda pen uses a prescription medication so you must first have a consultation to ensure it is safe for you to use it.
