What is emsculpt?

EMSCULPT is a non-invasive treatment helping you build muscle, and thus tone your body. No needles, scalpels or anesthesia necessary. EMSCULPT can help firm your buttocks non-invasively; no but(t)s about it! HIFEM energy causes strong, supramaximal contractions, which build new muscle mass. It is an intense “workout”.

how fast will i see results?

Treating Active Acne 

Prior to any treatment we recommend a full medical consultation. Because acne is multi factorial, your practitioner will conduct an assessment based on diet, hormonal influences, prescribed medications, skin care routine and treatments received in the past. This will enable us to look at the different factors contributing to your acne and how best to treat.

In clinic we offer many effective medical grade treatments such as chemical skin peels, Dermalux light therapy, HydraFacial, prescription skin care as well dietary and hormonal support.  

Treating Acne Scarring 

Once the Acne is under control and the skin has cleared you may be left with some scarring from the breakouts. The type of treatment will depend on your type of scarring, as general advice ice pick scars, boxcar scars and rolling scars will require dermal stimulation with either the award winning Resurface fractional laser, EDS (electronic derma stamp) or Plasma sublimation.

Deeper scars may require sublimation and dermal filler to lift the indentations. Pigmented scarring with no indentation will require a prescription skin care approach for skin lightening. For raised hypertrophic or keloid scarring, we recommend visiting a dermatologist for a course of steroid injections. 

These treatments may sound aggressive, however acne is a skin concern we see and treat daily in clinic with great results, while some treatments may be slightly uncomfortable, you will be in very safe hands.

Winter Skin Tips

The winter months bring pale skin and rosy cheeks… that’s not so bad is it?! Almost a relief to put aside the tan and make the most of warm cosy jumpers, scarves and winter coats.. bliss!! Although for many a winter glow is short lived and replaced with dry, irritated, flaky skin. We have come up with some great tips to say bye bye to dull skin and hello to happy healthy skin.

1. Stay Hydrated

Yes, we hear this advice often… DRINK MORE WATER! but do we put it in to practice?! The skin is the bodies largest organ and the last to receive any nourishment from what we eat or drink. There are also many external factors that dehydrate our skin, so it’s essential that we keep topped up with water. 2-3 litres to ensure it penetrates the skin and benefit your overall health as well.

2. Switch your Cleanser

They come in many textures and are the foundation to a good skincare routine. If your skin is feeling tight and irritated after cleansing it may be beneficial switching to a fragrance free, richer cleanser during the winter months. Even wash off cleansers are available in a creamy texture to leave the skin clean, fresh and protected.

3. Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise!

Locking in moisture and protecting the skin will prevent the skin from becoming dry and dehydrated. Opting for a richer moisturiser in the cold months will help protect the skin from harsh elements, and don’t forget to take care of the hands too.

4. Exfoliate

The skin becomes sluggish during the winter months and regular exfoliating helps to remove dead skin cells, unclog pores and remove flaky dry skin all of which can contribute to dreaded dull skin.

5. Protect with SPF.

We mentioned all year round protection recently in one of our Autumn newsletters and anyone that visits us in clinic knows how we view SPF protection as a very important daily step to prevent damage to our skin and premature aging from UVA, UVB Infrared-A and visible light.

6. Keep active

Why is it we look and feel better in the summer months? The good weather helps for sure and we make the most of it by spending more time outside in the fresh air. It also feels far easier to be more active. While hibernating may be more tempting during the cold nights, committing to getting out for a 30-minute walk four times a week will boost your circulation and keep your glow intact.

7. Invest in a humidifier.

Heating systems blast hot air in to our homes and work space. Humidifiers fill the air with moisture, which helps prevent our skin from drying out.

8. Turndown the temperature.

Hot baths, steamy showers and rewarding yourself with a sauna after the gym feels great this time of year. And we are not here to spoil your fun, however they can contribute to dry skin. Where possible we recommend using lukewarm water, especially when cleansing the face. Not fun we know but you will thank us for it.

9. Avoid Toxins, Specifically Allergens and Irritants

Winter skin is more fragile, and we can often develop skin sensitivity. If you prone to eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis you are best to avoid allergens and irritants that may trigger a flare up. Avoid wool like fabrics and chemical-laden detergents that are known to irritate the skin, and use mild, fragrance free cleansers, body washes and moisturisers designed for sensitive skin.

10. Get Help, Seek Advice!

There are times when we feel that we have done all that we can and our skin still appears unhappy. This is when you may need a little help from the professionals.
